Description
The Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery, more commonly known as the Royal Australian Artillery, is a subdivision of the Australian Army. It is made up of 10 regiments, 8 dedicated to field artillery and two dedicated to air defense and surveillance/target acquisition, respectively. During the Emu War, they sent two of their gunners led by Major G.P.W. Meredith to defeat the emu threat. Unfortunately, they failed.
Combat Assets
The two gunners were equipped with a pair of Lewis Automatic Machine Guns. Later they would issue the group a truck to mount one of the guns on, but it was proved an ineffective addition after failing to, and actively hindering any attempts to, defeat any emus. However, this isn't to say that the Lewis Automatic Machine Gun was useless at achieving its goal. With a 47 or 97 round drum magazine with a rate of fire of 500-600 rounds per minute and an average muzzle velocity of 740 meters per second, the gun was used to deadly effect in the events of World War I. Unfortunately, while being good against human enemies, it was displayed to be rather lackluster against the emu threat.
